Student Consumer Information About this Program
An 18 credit hour program that trains students to code information using ICD-9-CM and CPT in the health care setting.

Requirements for Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences
General Education Requirements See “General Requirements for Undergraduate Degrees at IU Southeast”. Students must take college algebra (M 122) and statistics (MATH-K 300 or ECON-E 280). Students are strongly advised to take psychology and/or sociology courses to meet the “Central Ideas, Issues, and Methods of Inquiry in the Social and Behavioral Sciences” requirement.

- Two 5 credit hour courses and two 3 credit courses in chemistry (usually C 105-C 125, C 106-C 126, C 341, C 342)

Requirements for Other Pre-Allied Health Science Degree Programs
Students interested in degrees in allied health science fields can take courses toward those degrees at IU Southeast. Students generally can take one to three years at IU Southeast and then must complete their degrees at another institution, such as the Indiana University Medical Center at Indianapolis. Many such students will be only a few courses short of an A.A. in biology.
Any student who is interested in allied health science programs should contact the dean of the School of Natural Sciences for the most current information about the availability of courses and programs and the requirements for completing degrees.
