Nursing simulation labs

Experiential learning is an important part of an IU Southeast education in nursing. Our students use state-of-the-art simulation facilities and engage in experiential learning starting with their first nursing courses and expanding in focus and complexity as each nursing student progresses.

Experiential learning

Regional experiential learning opportunities with a travel component are available for senior nursing students. These unique community/public health nursing experiences focus on underserved, culturally diverse populations in Appalachia and on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

NCLEX pass rates

Our National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) pass rates demonstrate the high quality of nursing education offered at IU Southeast. We had 93% of our recent graduates pass the NCLEX-RN last year on their first try, far exceeding the national pass rate for the computerized exam that measures the basic competency of future nurses. Meeting the threshold for a passing score has become increasingly difficult as patient care has become more complex. Our nursing students are finishing their programs with the skills necessary to meet the demands of quality patient care.
