Services

The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) supports Institutional and Program Assessment.

Services include:

  • Assisting programs with defining and developing an assessment process and assessment program for their unit which will achieve continuous improvement of student learning
  • Assisting programs with the design of assessment tools: rubrics, on-line forms, paper scan forms, etc.
  • Deployment of assessment tools
  • Collection [(on-line) and/or scanning (paper forms)] of data from assessment tools
  • Creation of data summaries for assessment results
  • Expanding the usefulness of assessment data by enhancing them with institutional or other data
  • Education and training on program assessment
  • Statistical analysis of data (as time and resources permit)
  • Assisting with the design and deployment of surveys

Assessment Updates

Annual programmatic assessment reports were due on Friday, November 25, 2011. Full reports were due for annual and biennial cycle programs, and updates were due for triennial programs. If you have not yet submitted, please contact Ron Severtis at rseverti@ius.edu to request an extension. As of Monday, November 28, 11 of 34 programs (32.4%) have already submitted their reports or updates with another 6 programs (17.6%) having received extensions.

One primary goal of the Assessment Specialist is to work with faculty of all programs, especially those with annual or biennial assessment cycles, to improve programmatic assessment and facilitate each program to achieve triennial cycle status. As of Fall 2011:

  • 12 programs (35%) are on the triennial cycle
  • 7 programs (21%) are on the biennial cycle
  • 15 programs (44%) are on the annual cycle
