If you are looking for extra help in finding that perfect job, count on Career Services at IU Southeast to point you in the right direction. Southern
Indiana's largest Business and Industry Job Fair will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 2 in the Activities Building on the IU Southeast campus.
Local employers from southern Indiana and Kentucky have been invited to attend. Employers are looking for candidates to fill degree and non-degreed positions,
including full-time, part-time, hourly, contract, entry-level, and professional. The event is free for all jobseekers and is open to the public.
Candidates should come prepared to make a great first impression. Professional dress is suggested. Resumes should also be available to give to interested employers.
Since 1993, Career Services has brought areas recruiters face-to-face with candidates to discuss employment opportunities, typically attracting over 300 students,
alumni, and community jobseekers.
Interest in the IU Southeast Business and Industry Job Fair has grown since the beginning, with attendance averaging 400 candidates each time, said James Kanning,
director of Career Services and Placement. "Employers expect to see continued growth in the months ahead," he said. "After a period of relatively slow growth, many
employers are now expanding their workforces."
To prepare job seekers to make a good first impression when meeting employees, Kanning and other Career Services counselors will offer free mini-seminars before
attendees speak with businesses at the Fair.
Sponsors of the Fair include Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Indiana National Guard, Walgreen's, FedEx Ground, Jewish Hospital, and Hilliard Lyons. Employers wishing to
participate should call IU Southeast's Office of Career Services and Placement at 812-941-2265, or register online at www.careerservices.ius.edu.
