Do I have to take the math placement test?

All new students are required to take the math placement test.  If you are a transfer student, and you completed a math course at another college or university, see your Credit Transfer Report or talk to an Admissions Counselor to see if you must take the math placement test.

What do I do if I cannot answer any of the math questions?

Try to answer every question.  If you cannot answer a question, take an educated guess.  Random guessing could give you an inaccurate appraisal of your math ability and greatly increase your testing time.

May I use a calculator on the math placement test?

You may use any four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator, unless it has features described in the Prohibited list. For models on the Permitted with Modification list, you will be required to modify some of the calculator's features.  For more information see the ACT Calculator Guidelines.
