Churchill Downs Excursion
For the last 134 years the Kentucky Derby has been held at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May. Horses race at Churchill Downs for 5 months out of the year, however, and they will be racing on Wednesday, June 25.
As your host for BGA 2008 in Louisville, I invite you join my favorite handicapper (n., a person who predicts the winners in a horse race) at the track. My husband Tim Moody will serve as your guide to all things horse-racing and bourbon-related (if he doesn’t know the answer he will gladly make it up).
$10 will get you transportation to the track, an outdoor reserved box seat, and a program. The shuttle will depart from the Galt House Hotel for the track at 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 25. The shuttle will leave the track for the return trip to the hotel after the last race (at approximately 5:30pm).
Pre-registration for this excursion is required: http://bga.org/pages/68/Current_BGA_Meeting.html. Use the pull-down menu to select the desired number of tickets. Deadline for purchasing tickets for the Churchill Downs excursion is June 11.
