Honorarium Committee Report - Diane Fuchs for Cari Edwards
Diane Fuchs reported that three staff members applied for the scholarship and book honoraria. Two of the applicants did not qualify. The committee recommended that Leslie Staggers be awarded a $150.00 scholarship honorarium and that no book honorarium be awarded this semester. A motion was made and seconded (Kathleen Norvell, Regina McCarty) to accept the committee's recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
A suggestion was made to more aggressively publicize the honoraria and to encourage staff to apply. Professional development scholarships might also be awarded as a way to reach a broader range of staff members.
CBAG Meeting and Campus Executive Council (CEC) Meeting Reports - Diane Fuchs
Resident Housing headed the agenda at the Campus Executive Council Meeting. The Chancellor asked each staff member to spread the word about campus resident housing. Budget cuts and costs of campus resident housing were discussed in the CBAG meeting. Copies of the minutes of each meeting were circulated at the Staff Council meeting and are on file with the Staff Council Minutes.
A committee was appointed to formulate guidelines for cards/monetary gifts/flowers sent in memory of a staff member or staff member's family in the event of a death. Kim Wells, Alice Watson and Regina McCarty volunteered for the committee.
Fundraising - Diane Fuchs for Cari Edwards
Cari Edwards checked with Pat Mrozowski about working concessions during a basketball game for a cut of the profits. Mr. Mrozowski declined the offer and suggested that he would be amenable to us having a Silent Auction at one of the games. The matter will be referred back to Cari for further investigation.
A committee will be appointed during the February Staff Council Meeting to purchase supplies and assemble a spring treat for each staff member.
All Staff Council Members are invited to bring a treat to share to the February Staff Council Meeting in honor of St. Valentine's Day.
No one registered for the Buffalo Madison Coffee Giveaway during December, thus there is no winner for that month. Be sure to register when you check out the minutes.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
Lesley Deal, Secretary
