STYLE SHOW: Lisa Ruddell gave a report on the style show, stating that Kohl's and Priddy's would be having clothes and that Rebecca Carlton from Arts & Letters has agreed to be the narrator. Tickets will cost $12, which includes lunch. Lenten restrictions were not discussed previously, so those not eating meat during Lent must specify when they purchase their ticket. The reverse side of the ticket will be completed when turned in at the door for door prizes. Door prizes include a $50 gift certificate from Kohl's and a $25 one from Salon 250 in Sellersburg. The committee is working on posters, ads in local newspapers, and other ideas. The deadline to sell tickets and turn the money into Janey Loney is March 19. There will be a special meeting on Wednesday, March 13 at 10:00 in the Scribner/Clark Room to discuss final details of the show.

DRAFT OF LETTER TO ADMINISTRATION FOR SALARY INCREASE: The Staff Council agreed to send the following letter to the administration in lieu of the 5% budget cuts:
The IU Southeast Staff Council recommends that because of our continued increase in enrollments and our commitment to quality service, staff salary increases should be given the highest priority.
Staff have been asked to handle the extra volume of work relating to the ever increasing enrollments semester after semester. While last year's increase was greatly appreciated by everyone, we feel that in order to keep pace with expectations, staff need to be compensated appropriately.
We respectfully ask that an increase of no less than 3% be considered for staff in the CL, TE and SM categories.
| |
REPLACEMENT OF RICK REYNOLDS: The next person on the list in the SM category to replace Rick Reynolds declined to serve. The committee recommended that since it's so late in the year, we would delay this until election time.
| |
POLICY ON SENDING FLOWERS: The current policy states that staff members in the hospital shall receive flowers. It was agreed, after discussion, that exceptions can be made by the officers.
| |
E-MAIL POLICY & ALTERNATIVE TO CAMPUS LIFE PAGE: Barb Gelwick reported that some solutions under discussion are: 1) having a list-serve, 2) a Web-based Bulletin Board and 3) a closed audience Web Page. Members agreed that communications on campus are a big problem, including voice mail, phone trees, and no more IUS Notes.
| |
CHANCELLOR RICHARDSON: Because Chancellor Richardson is leaving, it was suggested that the Staff Council have a gift for him at once of his going-away receptions. This will be discussed at the next meeting. It was also mentioned that we would plan a welcoming reception for the new Chancellor.
| |
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Rick Reynolds reported that we should know soon who our next Chancellor will be. Bev Biggs and Alicia Stanley reported that CBAG has as it's first recommendation that faculty and staff be compensated at no less than 3%.
| |
PRESIDENT'S REMARKS: Kathleen Norvell reported that she believe the Council is making a difference. She recently attended a meeting with state legislators to voice campus concerns.
| |
