| Library Renovation:
Steve Taksar, Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs, met with the group to ask everyone to submit to him in writing by May 9 their concepts, priorities and ideas about the renovation of the old library building. Planning will take place over the summer incorporating the broad concepts from the entire campus. In answer to some questions by members, Mr. Taksar stated that no space has been promised to anyone yet, any suggestions including renovation of the University Center will be considered, the budget will be dependent on the cost of the new library building. Some ideas expressed were more student space, have a defined main entrance, and asking donations from the community to help make it happen. Mr. Taksar reiterated that the Chancellor wants a fresh look at what the campus feels is important and hopes this process will help identify present and future needs.
|
| |
| Parking Space Problems: Cynthia Stevenson and Trudy Walter have been in contact with the administration on this problem and as soon as the final report is completed, they will report back to the group.
|
| |
| FUND RAISING: : Bev Biggs received information from one company on the process required to print a cookbook. Julie Crecelius will look into the possibility of setting up a refreshment stand at the IUS Celebration (in concert with Harvest Homecoming Balloon Launch and the Alumni Office), Janie Loney offered to donate roses than can be sold, and a Christmas Bazaar type event. These ideas will be discussed in more detail at our next meeting.
|
| |
| Appreciation Event for Staff: : Several ideas were discussed. The picnic was very expensive, and the Take a Break was not well attended. Cynthia Stevenson and Trudy Walter volunteered to look into the possibility of an Ice Cream Social, which would run from about 2 to 3:30 and folks could fix their own sundaes. After the cost has been determined, this event may take place over the summer. |
| |
| Scholarship Forms: Any staff member wishing to apply for the scholarship funds that the Staff Council will sponsor for fall 2003 will find the application on the Staff Council Web Page during the month of May. Completed applications may be sent to President Kathleen Norvell or completed on line.
