Discussed the upcoming Staff Council Style Show on April 15, 2005. The theme is Southwest Fashion Fiesta. Tickets for the Style Show will
be distributed next week to each Staff Council member for selling purposes.
Instructions for ticket sales will be included with the tickets which will be
distributed via campus mail. A table will only be reserved for reservations of
eight folks. Lisa Ruddell is in charge of ticket sales and all non-sold
tickets and monies should be turned into her. Rebecca Beardsley has talked
with Vickie Hartman regarding the meal for this event. Vickie mentioned that
this will be the last year for a $7.00 charge per person from Catering for the
cost of the meal. The meal will be preset on the tables and will include
chicken salad salad, chips, drink and assorted cakes. If you desire a
vegetarian meal, please mention your menu selection to a staff council member
upon entering the Style Show Luncheon. They will be happy to change out the
food selection. Discussed the table decorations for this event. The current
idea is to have assorted colored straw sombrero's with confetti on each table.
The table napkins will also be assorted colors also. Janie Loney mentioned
that she is looking for an opening act for the Style Show. Please contact her
with any suggestions/contacts. Kathleen Norvell is in charge of recruiting
models for the Style Show. She is trying to recruit folks who have never been
in any past Style Shows as well as representatives from the various buildings
on campus. Donations for door prizes are arriving – ($25 gift certificate from
Nance's, 2 - $15.00 gift certificates from Magdalena's, tickets for two people
for dinner and a show at Derby Dinner Playhouse – to name a few). A complete
listing of the door prizes that have been received will be available at the
next Staff Council Meeting. Volunteers for the Style Show are welcome!
Discussed the purpose and guidelines for the "Rainy
Day" Fund. Rebecca Beardlsey made a motion to dissolve the current Rainy
Day account, guidelines and committee and move the remaining funds of $401.07
to the regular savings account. In an absentee vote, Ashley Troncin voted in
favor of the motion. Motion passed. The Rainy Day Fund Committee which will
be dissolved consisted of Diane Reid, Lillian Yeager and Trudy Walter. Thank
you for serving on this committee.
Lesley Deal and Lisa Ruddell both volunteered to serve on
the Distinguished Service Award Committee. However, only one position is
available and Lisa has served in the past so Lesley's name was turned in for
consideration. Thank you!!
Trudy Walter encouraged all to consider sending a card to
Linda James who continues to be off work.
Beth Roberts has declined the Book Honorarium Award at this
time. The returned funds will be distributed to Ashley Troncin who originally
applied for the funds but was not eligible due to length of service. Due to
circumstances, if Beth applies for the Book Honorarium Award in the future, she
will receive the award.
Discussed the updating of the Staff Council website. More
information needs to be gathered before discussions can begin. This item has
been tabled until the next Staff Council meeting.
Trudy Walter asked the Staff Council to participate in the
upcoming Relay for Life on May 13, 2005. A donation of $100.00 was made last
year. Janie Loney made a motion to donate $100.00 this year to the Relay for
Life. Motion passed.
Staff Council currently has two representatives serving in
the Bursar's Office. Due to the current staffing situation, Cari Jackson and
Ashley Troncin will be alternating attending the Staff Council meetings (based
on availability). However, they will each retain their voting privileges on
any issues brought forth to the Staff Council meetings.
NEXT STAFF COUNCIL MEETING: March 15, 2005 - 10:00 a.m. – Scribner/Clark Room.
