The minutes from the Staff Council meeting on 12/7/04 were approved.
The Staff Council Academic and Book Honorariums were awarded
and distributed. Received a "Thank You" from Charlotte Dubois who
received one of the Academic Honorariums.
Gift certificates from WalMart were distributed to staff
members who needed special assistance during the holiday season.
Discussed the purpose and guidelines for the "Rainy
Day" Fund. Reviewed comments from Staff Council minutes of 1/22/98 and 2/25/03 regarding the guidelines for the Rainy Day Fund. According to past
minutes, the current Rainy Day Fund Committee members are: Diane Reid, Lillian
Yeager and Vickie Jenson. Trudy Walter volunteered to replace Vickie Jenson on
this committee due to her retirement from IUS. Further discussions on this
topic were tabled until the next Staff Council meeting on 2/15/05. Information will be gathered from Lillian Yeager regarding her thoughts on this fund.
Discussed donations for Dr. Linda Brengle's upcoming
memorial on Friday, January 21, 2005. In lieu of a donation from Staff
Council, personal donations are encouraged.
Discussed the upcoming Staff Council Style Show. The style
show will be held on April 15, 2005 in the Hoosier Room. The theme for this
year's event is "Southwest Fashion Fiesta". Door prizes need to be
sourced at the present time. 63 door prizes were secured last year. Janie
Loney will provide a complete listing of door prize donors for the next Staff
Council meeting on 2/15/05. We are planning on securing clothing from
Priddy's, Dillard's and Sam Meyer's. Also, will follow-up with SUP to secure
their services for this year's event. The Style Show Committee members are:
Diana Holman, Lisa Ruddell, Rebecca Beardsley, Janie Loney and Kathleen
Norvell. Bev Biggs, staff retiree, has also volunteered her services. 36 to
38 outfits were featured last year. Suggested using the buddy system on
picking out clothing. Comments were made that it was extremely helpful to have
someone do "hair" the day of the event. Suggestions for decorations
are being solicited – e-mail Janie. Anticipate that tickets will remain at
$12.00 per person. Kim Draughn donated a large skull with horns for the
event. Janie Loney urged fellow staff members to volunteer to help with this
event.
