All of the applicants who applied for the Staff Council
Scholarship for the Spring of 2006 were found to be ineligible. An applicant
must take a total of six credit hours to apply. Deadline for submission had
passed. However, the decision was made to re-open the application process with
the anticipation that an award for Spring 2006 would be made. Second chance…..get
those applications in!
A Valentine's Day treat was distributed to all clerical,
technical and service maintenance staff. Total cost of the treat was 97 cents
per person. Received very positive comments. Discussed scheduling an ice
cream social within the next couple of months. No date has been established.
This item will be placed on the agenda for future Staff Council meetings.
Update on Staff Council Style Show activities.
Unfortunately, Dillard's has a new policy which prohibits them from
participating in style shows. Kohl's was contacted and declined to
participate. J.C. Penney's was contacted and declined to participate this year
but suggested that we contact them next year. Von Mar was contacted and they
will participate, however, they only use professional models which we would
have to hire. Due to budget, this is not a feasible alternative. Kathleen
Norvell is pursuing contacting Macy's. Regina McCarty volunteered to contact
Sam Meier's, SteinMart and Sears to see if they would be interested in
participating. John Jarboe volunteered to contact Harrold's. Several other
suggestions of stores to contact included: Bass Pro, Value City, etc. Todate, the only store that we have lined up for clothing is Priddy's. The
Bookstore window has been reserved for the first week of April. After much
discussions, it was decided to make the final decision on whether or not to
hold the Staff Council Style Show two weeks from today's date – (March 7
2006). It was also recommended that no expenses be incurred towards the Style
Show until a firm decision had been determined. We welcome input/suggestions
regarding clothing stores to contact.
Lisa Ruddell volunteered to be the staff representative on
the Chancellor's Distinguished Services Award Committee. Thank you!
It has been a number of years since the last Staff Retreat.
Steven Clark volunteered to contact Human Resources about the possibility of
having another event.
A suggestion was proposed that Staff Council work with Human
Resources to determine best practices in associating with the public/students
in returning phone calls. Steven Clark volunteered to contact Human Resources
and secure the current telephone policy.
Congratulations to Denise Jones - this month's coffee
give-away winner!!
