adopt the IUS Common Experience Proposal. Mary Ann Wild made to motion to
accept the resolution. The motion was seconded by Lesley Deal. Resolution
passed. The resolution read …. "Let this resolution show that the Staff
Council of Indiana University Southeast fully supports the IUS Common
Experience. Staff Council will send a representative to serve on the IUS
Common Experience Committee."
Discussed Staff financial assistance for the 2005 holiday
season. A gift card at WalMart in the amount of $150.00 was purchased
initially. Steven Clark reported that an additional request had been received
and an additional gift card in the amount of $150.00 was also purchased from
WalMart. In recap, Staff Council awarded two gift cards in the total amount of
$300.00 for the 2005 holiday season.
Upon further investigation, all of the applicants who
applied for the Staff Council Scholarship for the Spring of 2006 were found to
be ineligible. An applicant must take a total of six credit hours to apply. At
the present time, no scholarships will be awarded for the Spring 2006
semester. John Jarboe mentioned that he thought he would be eligible – he was
urged to fill-out the appropriate documentation and apply.
Discussed distributing to each Staff Member a Valentine's
Day treat – consisting of a Valentine's Day plastic cup, pen and goodie. Diane
Fuchs presented associated costs. Kim Draughn made a motion to give each Staff
Member a Valentine's Day treat and spend approximately $1.00 on each person.
Motion was seconded by Donna Harvey. Motion passed. The goodie will be passed
out on Valentine's Day. Enjoy!!
Discussed options for a Staff Council fundraiser. Options
included: campus yard sale/silent auction; carnival; dance and style show.
The board discussed holding a dance at some point; not necessarily as a
fundraiser event but more of a social event. John Jarboe volunteered to
contact the VFW and a potential band to obtain costs, etc. and report at the
next Staff Council meeting. After much discussions, Angie Clark made a motion
for Staff Council to hold a Style Show (as we have done in the past) on Friday,
April 21, 2006 in Hoosier Room. Motion was seconded by Regina McCarty. Motion
passed. Discussed the organizational challenge of the Style Show. Kim Draughn
