STAFF COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

7/18/06 – 10:00 A.M – INDIANA ROOM

Donna Harvey reported that the Chancellor's Picnic is scheduled for August 25, 2006.  In the past, the Staff Council scholarship winners have been announced.  Steven Clark volunteered to send out an e-mail announcing the opportunity to apply for the Fall Staff Council Scholarships. 

 

At the last Staff Council meeting, Lisa Ruddell conveyed a suggestion from a fellow staff member.  They suggested that HR compile a telephone listing of permanent hourly folks and distribute on a campus wide basis.  Currently, they are not listed on any phone directories and if an emergency occurs, it would be a challenge to locate these folks.  Steven Clark volunteered to chat with HR about this process and report back at the next Staff Council Meeting.  Due to timing issues at this meeting, this item was tabled until the next Staff Council Meeting.

 

A motion was made that for the next six months, the monthly drawing for reading of the Staff Council minutes be awarded with a gift certificate of $5.00 to the IUS Bookstore.  Motion passed.  Mary Ann Wild volunteered to coordinate with the Bookstore to obtain the gift certificates.

 

It was suggested that Staff Council members pass the word about the upcoming Staff Council on November 14, 2006 in the Multi-Purpose Room.  The theme for this event is "holiday".  Mary Ann Wild and Lisa Ruddell have volunteered to co-chair this event.  If you would like to donate an item for this event, please contact the co-chairs.  Staff Council members agreed that local businesses will be contacted for a possible donation.

 

Discussed the upcoming Staff Council elections.  Steven Clark reported that their will not be a CL/TE election due to the appropriate number of folks currently serving.  However, there will be an election to elect Service Maintenance members.

 

Ann Lee, Human Resource Director, was our guest speaker.  She discussed various clerical concerns.  A Bi-Weekly Staff Retreat has been scheduled for October 20, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at McCauley Nicolas.  RSVP by September 29, 2006.  Cost to each department is $20.00 per person.  Lunch and materials will be provided to attendees.  Ann volunteered to attend any upcoming Staff Council meetings to discuss further concerns.  Thank you!  Please chat with a Staff Council member if you have any additional questions.
