Rhonda Burch joined us as a guest speaker discussing staff
volunteering for the upcoming IN and KY State Fairs. IU Day at the IN State Fair will be
8/10/06. Transportation in the capacity
of 50 will be provided for volunteers that day.
Contact Rhonda Burch via e-mail to volunteer for that day. Duties of a volunteer will be handling out
give-away items, answering questions, assisting with organizational items. Volunteers are needed for the KY State Fair
which runs from 8/17 through 8/27/06. We
have a booth reserved during the entire timeframe. The plan is for half of the booth to remain
in a fixed display mode. The other half
of the booth will change out from day to day.
This part of the booth needs to be set-up by 9:00 a.m. and taken down
after 10:00 p.m. every day. Your
admission to the State Fair will be paid.
Rhonda urged staff members to volunteer for any amount of time that they
would have available. Please contact

The Election Committee is busy addressing the upcoming
election. Nominations will run through
July followed by elections in August and introduction of new board members and
officers.
Reminder - The Staff Council Ice Cream Social is scheduled
for June 21, 2006 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
It will be held in the Commons Area outside of Subway. A signup sheet was distributed to assist at
the event. Steven Clark volunteered to
send out a reminder e-mail the morning of the event.
Work is ongoing on adding a link to the Staff Council
Website which lists companies in the area which offer a discount on their
projects/services to staff members. The
site was reviewed with Jenna Copple for IU policy compliance. Projected launch is Friday, June 23,
2006.
Lisa Ruddell conveyed a suggestion from a fellow staff
member. They suggested that HR compile a
telephone listing of permanent hourly folks and distribute on a campus wide
basis. Currently, they are not listed on
any phone directories and if an emergency occurs, it would be a challenge to
locate these folks. Steven Clark
volunteered to chat with HR about this process and report back at the next
Staff Council Meeting.
Ann Lee will be attending the next Staff Council Meeting to
discuss various clerical concerns. If
you have a concern that you would like addressed at the meeting, please submit
your question to a Staff Council Member.
Due to Beane Street Café closing, (last day of operation is
6/28/06), the balance of the $5.00 gift certificates have been awarded to: Paula Skelley, Cynthia Stevenson, Angie Clark
and Kim Wells. Congratulations! Last chance to use your gift certificates.
