above.
Welcome to new Staff Council members! Introductions were
made by individual members. New members will be serving for a two year period.
The first item of business was the election of officers for
2007 – 2008 academic year. Steven Clark provided a description of duties for
each position.
Staff Council Officers for 2007 -2008 are:
President: Diane Fuchs
Vice President: Regina McCarty
Secretary: Lesley Deal
Treasurer: Mary Ann Wild
A special “thank you” to Steven Clark for serving as
President of Staff Council. We appreciated all of his efforts and dedication
in his role as President.
Steven Clark volunteered to continue to coordinate the Staff
Council website functions. Thank you!
For the record, the following folks received scholarship /
honorarium for the fall semester. These awards were given out at the
Chancellor’s picnic. Congrats!
Paula Skelley – Honorarium
Lesley Turner – Honorarium
Ruben Borrego – Scholarship
Trudy Walter has volunteered to continue to coordinate the
sending of cards and also birthday bags. Thank you!
Discussed staff assistance for the holidays. Steven Clark
volunteered to send out an e-mail to Clerical, Service Maintenance and
Technical folks regarding the process along with the appropriate form. Thank
you!
Discussed conducting a food drive. Item was tabled for
further discussions.
Discussed a possible holiday goodie give-away. Suggestion
was made that we might want to have an angel tree instead of goodies. Item was
tabled for further discussions.
Discussed the Staff Council Holiday Silent Auction. Alice
Watson made a motion to hold a Staff Council Holiday Silent Auction in
November. Motion was second by Regina McCarty. Vote was taken. Motion passed
unanimously. A committee was elected. Thank you to the following members for
volunteering to serve on this committee: Angie Clark, Cari Edwards, Linda
Haskins, Charlotte Dubois, Mary Ann Braden, Cynthia Stevenson and Mary Ann
Wild.
After discussions, the following suggestions/ideas regarding
the above event were made:

Advertise event outside of campus
·
Have committee elect a chair
·
Cari Edwards volunteered to check the availability of the game
room
·
Suggested dates for the event are November 13 or 14 or 15, 2007
·
Utilize secretaries within departments to get the word out to
faculty about the event
·
Review list of donations from last year
·
Ethel King volunteered to check on reserving the new university
conference rooms as a possible location
·
Check with appropriate folks to make sure that there is no
conflict with the Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner
·
Get the donation request out early
·
Craft items seem to be one of the top sellers
·
The candy items made by Loretta Seals were a very popular item
Steven Clark volunteered to send out a donation e-mail to
all Clerical, Technical and Service Maintenance folks. Thank you!

We had a very well attended Ice Cream Social! Everyone was
very appreciative of the treat.
Discussed obtaining a listing of folks in each department. Linda
Williams said that a listing will be distributed sometime around the first of
October 1, 2007.
