COMMITTEE REPORTS
Blue Ribbon Committee - Regina McCarty
Regina McCarty reported that the committee is meeting and
has divided into Professional Staff/Staff and Faculty groups to consider
questions regarding salary separately. Recommendations will be made by the
groups by March 15, 2008.
CBAG Meeting and Campus Executive Council (CEC) Meeting
Reports - Diane Fuchs
It is being recommended that personally owned space heaters
be removed from work spaces if they do not have a kill switch due to safety
issues. Mail Services is considering a change to 1 pick-up/delivery per day
probably in the afternoon due to increased mail from housing beginning in the
Fall 2008 semester. I. P. phones will be installed campus-wide (at least one
in each office) this year, to warn in case of emergency and issue weather
alerts/closings. 108 students have applied for housing and placed deposits
thus far.
Illness/Funeral/Condolence Policy Committee
President Diane Fuchs opened the dialog by asking the
committee (Alice Watson, Regina Mc Carty and Kim Wells) to report on their
progress. A question was raised about sending some type of acknowledgement to
Professional Staff members in the event of a death or illness. Due to the fact
that Professional Staff did not want to be included in Staff Council and the
difficulty of our being notified of the death or illness of a Professional
Staff member, the consensus of the Staff Council members was that we should
not. The policy, drawn up by the committee, was handed out for Staff Council
members to look over before a vote in the March Staff Council meeting. If any
member did not receive a copy of the policy and would like to have one, please
contact Lesley Deal.
OLD BUSINESS
Spring Treat
A committee was appointed to purchase supplies and assemble
a spring treat for each staff member. The theme this year will be "Spring
Break." Regina McCarty and Lisa Stark volunteered for the committee.
Treat packages will be assembled during and delivered after the March Staff
Council Meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Sunshine Basket - Gifts for a "Sunshine
Basket" for Kim Draughn, who was injured in an auto accident, are being
collected. If you wish to contribute, please take your gift to Diane Fuchs by
Wednesday, February 27th. Thanks to those who have already contributed.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Buffalo Madison Coffee Giveaway winner for February is
Mary Beth Nanz.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:58 a.m.
to enjoy finger-food treats.
Respectfully submitted,
Lesley Deal, Secretary
NEXT STAFF COUNCIL MEETING: March 18, 2008,
