Dr. Ruth's Top Five Things Students Need to Know
  1. Get Involved: Join a Campus Organization. Attend a Campus Life event. Become an active member of Student Government. Participate in intramurals.
  2. Enrich your university experience by getting to know someone who is different from yourself: Respect equity, diversity, and differences. Be open to learning about different cultures and lifestyles.
  3. Be Healthy: Eat right and exercise. Get enough sleep. Manage stress. Visit Counseling Services if you are experiencing personal problems or feeling overwhelmed. Often, when students experience personal problems, their grades are the first things that suffer.
  4. Stay Connected: Check your IU Southeast E-Mail daily. Every student has a free email account. You may have an important message from the university. Also read the The Planet e-mail newsletter and The Horizon, the student newspaper. Check bulletin boards.
  5. Take Charge of Your Success: Speak with an academic advisor. File early for Financial Aid. Talk to a career counselor.
