Professor Staten has been at IU Southeast since 1989. For 12 years he served as Dean of the School of Social Sciences. He has written two books and numerous scholarly articles. He has received the IU Southeast Distinguished Teaching Award, the IU Southeast Distinguished Research Award, and the Chancellor's Award for Diversity.
Education: Ph.D. in Political Science in 1987 from the University of North Texas
