Emergency Phone Locations

The emergency phone system has been installed for your safety. You may use these phones only in emergency situations. The phones ring directly to the University Police Department. The phones are to be used for reporting a crime in progress,  an accident, or a need for medical assistance. Please remember that with anything mechanical there can always be a malfunction even though our emergency phones are tested periodically to help insure that they are in proper working order.

It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the phone locations and their proper use. Please do not abuse or make false calls on these phones.

We have two types of emergency phones on campus:

Yellow Box Phones:

Some emergency phones are a bright yellow box with a black or red push button. They are identified with a yellow sign to advise its proper use. Yellow box emergency phones are located inside the buildings.  There are some located outside. Those that are located outside have a bright yellow strobe light on the top which will come on when activated. The purpose of the yellow light is to attract attention when they are activated.

Blue Light Phones:

Blue light phones are located outside in various areas on campus. They have a blue strobe light at the top which will come when activated. The purpose of the blue light is to attract attention when they are activated.  They operate the same way as the yellow phones.

Directions:

  1. Push the button and release.
  2. When the phone is answered you will have three minutes to state your message.
  3. When your message is completed, push the button again to disconnect the call.
  4. Remember to remain calm and talk in a normal, clear tone.
