Chris

You want to know about me, huh? Well I’m in my fifth year here at IUS, and it looks like I’ll finally be graduating this spring, knock on wood. I’m a Philosophy and English major with a minor in German and am a member of the IUS Honors Program. As if that did not keep me busy, I am also a vocal and guitar student at Mom’s Music in Jeffersonville. During my junior year, I studied abroad at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, where I was able to travel to eight different countries on three continents, see Shakespeare performed in his hometown, and become entirely dependent on my feet and public transportation to get me where I needed (a skill not utilized near enough in this country), not to mention sample some good British cuisine and culture (no, that is not an oxymoron).

What little free time I have is usually spent either with friends at the New Albanian Brewing Company, at home reading a book of philosophical or literary interest, playing Beatles and Eric Clapton songs (very badly) on my acoustic guitar, or sleeping (less so of the last one than the other three). When I grow up, I want to be a philosophy professor or a European vagabond, which ever comes first.

I’m thrilled to be able to help students with their writing this year, something I am prepared for based on the scores of English writing and Philosophy classes I have endured the last four years with no observable ill consequences other than a deflated sense of self. The key is to always remember: no matter how long you’ve been writing, there is always something you can learn. There’s no such thing as the perfect piece of writing, but it never hurts to strive towards it.
