Common Experience Essay Competition

Deadline:  November 7, 2014

Submission Deadline: November 7, 2014 at 5 p.m.

Entry Information: Submissions should be made to Cliff Staten, Co-Director of the 2014-15 IU Southeast Common Experience Program Committee. All entries should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word via email to Art work and photography should be submitted to the School of Social Sciences main office in CV 140.

Guidelines: Students can decide which mode best represents their ideas regarding the Common Experience theme, as stated on the Common Experience Website.

Categories: All IU Southeast students are eligible to submit an interpretation of the theme “The Gift of Empathy: Seeing the World through the Eyes of Another” using any one of the following genres:

  • essay
  • poetry
  • research/report
  • two-dimensional art
  • photography

Prizes: Winners will be honored at the IU Southeast English Department Gala. They will receive cash prizes and their work will be placed on the IU Southeast Common Experience website.
