Research/Report (limit: 7500 words)
You may submit any research paper you’ve written for any class at IUS within the contest time frame, or submit a completely independent researched paper. According to the Purdue OWL, “A research paper is the culmination and final product of an involved process of research, critical thinking, source evaluation, organization, and composition.” For additional information, see https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/658/02/
1st ($50), 2nd ($25), 3rd ($10) place and honorable mention entries in each category.
The English Department Gala celebration to honor the winners will be in December 2014.
To be eligible, students must have been enrolled in any class for one full semester during summer I, II, or fall 2013 OR spring, summer I, II, or fall 2014.
Limit: two entries per student per category. You may submit in as many categories as you like, but each entry must be submitted separately.
