IU Southeast Writing Competition

Deadline:  Sep 28, 2012

Categories: poetry, fiction, flash fiction, nonfiction, and research/report.

Prizes: cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries in each category.

Entry Information: Entries accepted from current undergraduate students including those enrolled at IU Southeast during the previous academic year. Only two entries per person per category. You may submit as many times as you like, but each entry must be accompanied by a cover sheet that meets the requirements listed in the Submission Process below.

Submission Guidelines:

  • All submissions must be done electronically following the Submission Process below.

  • Submit entry in 12-point font, double-spaced (poetry may be single-spaced).

  • Do not put your name on your stories, poems, or essays, only the title.

Submission Process:

  • Create a cover sheet in Word with the following information:

  • Your Name

  • Mailing address (including zip)

  • IU Southeast email address

  • Any other email address you use regularly

  • Telephone numbers (including cell or work if you like)

  • Student ID number

  • Titles and categories of your entries. Each entry that you list on this cover sheet must be included in the same email as an attachment in Word.

  • Yes or No: Do you want your entries submitted also to the IUS Review (literary magazine) for consideration?

  • Save this cover sheet using your name somewhere in the file name

    For example:
    Smith entry to IUS Writing Contest.doc
    OR
    Smith entry to IUS Contest.docx

  • Send this cover sheet and your entries (attached as separate Word documents) via email to iuswrite @ius.edu. You will receive a confirmation that your entry email has been received by The Writing Center.

Entries without a cover sheet or with an incomplete cover sheet will not be accepted.
