Second Bachelor's Degree

Normally the holder of a baccalaureate degree who wishes to pursue a further educational goal is encouraged to become qualified for admission to a graduate degree program. In certain cases, however, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management may admit a baccalaureate degree holder to candidacy for a second baccalaureate degree. When such admission is granted, the candidate must earn at least 26 additional hours in residence and meet the requirements of the division and the department in which he/she is a candidate. He/she must apply for undergraduate admission and meet all requirements as stated under transfer applicants.

To apply as a Second Degree candidate, you must submit the following:

  • Application for Undergraduate Admission
  • A one-time, non-refundable application fee of $35 is required. This fee is not required if you have previously applied for undergraduate admission at any Indiana University Campus.
  • Official transcripts from each college/university you have attended
  • Second Degree Request Form PDF
  • Second Degree Request Letter outlining why you should seek another bachelor's degree rather than simply take course work in this field or go directly to graduate study. This letter should be addressed to Chris Crews, Interim Director of Admission.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

Another possible educational program that Bachelor’s degree holders might consider is a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate.  Currently, Post-Bac Certificates are offered in the following areas:  General Business, Accounting (CPA or Corporate preparation), Economics, Finance, Human Resources Management, Information & Operations Management, International Business, Management, and Marketing.

To apply for a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, you must submit the following:

  • Application for Undergraduate Admission
  • A one-time, non-refundable application fee of $35 is required. This fee is not required if you have previously applied for undergraduate admission at any Indiana University Campus.
  • Official transcripts from the college/university awarding your bachelor's degree.
