Acquire a general knowledge of the musical theatre and its workings from an actor's perspective while developing basic musical theatre stage performance techniques. These techniques are designed to better prepare the actor for auditions, rehearsals, and performance as well as improve their confidence, self awareness, and interpersonal communication skills. Areas Covered: vocal & physical warm-up technique, singing, musical staging, and scene work. Students will be working on small group and ensemble scenes and songs from classic musical theatre repertoire such as GUYS & DOLLS, ANYTHING GOES, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and more.
Participants in this course will be evaluated by area high school theatre directors as well as professionals from local theatre companies such as Derby Dinner Playhouse, Walden Theatre, Kentucky Shakespeare, StageOne, Bunbury and Actors Theatre.
Acceptance into the Acting Academy is by audition.
