Biography

Dr. Jacquelyn Singleton teaches reading methods courses to undergraduate and graduate elementary education and special education majors at IUS. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from IUS, and she earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Louisville in 2013. She taught elementary school for 12 years and served as a school reading coach prior to being hired at IUS in 2014. Her research interests include effective teacher traits, teacher-student relationships, professional development for educators, service learning, and early reading development and language acquisition. Dr. Singleton lives in Jeffersonville, Indiana with her husband and four children. In her free time, she enjoys reading and continues to work with children through teaching at DanceWorks as well as volunteering for with a local school theater program.
