Biography

Since joining the Indiana University Southeast faculty in 2005, Rebekkah serves as the Theatre Department Coordinator/Chair as well as being an Associate Professor of Theatre; Design. In addition to teaching courses in theatrical design and history, she is also the department’s resident scenic and lighting designer; and as needed she has also stepped in the costume designer’s shoes. In 2010 she was given the honor of designing the scenery and lighting for Lee Meriwether’s world premiere of her one-woman show The Women of Spoon River. In 2012 this same production was chosen to be a part of the prestigious NY Fridge Festival.
In her free time and prior to joining IU Southeast; Rebekkah has worked as a successful freelance designer and properties master for numerous regional theatres and Universities such as: Lees-McRae Summer Theatre, Music Theatre Louisville, Bunbury Theater, African American Theater Program (AATP) in Louisville KY, Florida State University, University of Louisville, New Harmony Theatre, Worcester Foothills Theatre, The Boston Conservatory of Music, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, as well as others.
Rebekkah obtained her M.F.A in Theatre Design and Production from the University of Louisville and holds her B.A. from the State University of New York at Oswego. Her most recent design credits include; Almost Maine, Rocky Horror Show, Eurydice, The Cat in the Hat, How I Became a Pirate, Guys and Dolls, Noises Off, Angels in America: Part One, Once Upon a Mattress, and the lighting design for the AATP production of The Orphan of Chao which was produced for performances in both Louisville KY as well as their international performance in Singapore
Some other memorable design credits include: Mamma Mia, Mad at Miles; A Black Woman’s Guide to the Truth, The Mousetrap, Equus, The Women of Spoon River, Godspell, House of Blue Leaves, My Name is Tracy, Bus Stop, Proof, Sweet Bird of Youth, Noises Off, among many others.
