Biography
Cello
Allison Braid Olsen received the Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from Rice University, the Master of Music degree in performance from the University of Akron, and completed the Professional Studied program at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Her teachers have included Stephen Gerber (former principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra), Michael Haber (former principal cellist of the Akron Symphony Orchestra), Desmond Hoebig (principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra), and Shirley Trepel (former principal cellist of the Houston Symphony).
Ms. Olsen is currently a member of the Louisville Orchestra as well as principal cellist of the Owensboro (KY) Symphony Orchestra. Her previous positions include principal and section cellist of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, and the Marini String Quartet, and has participated in numerous music festivals including the Lancaster Festival, Spoleto USA, Jerusalem International Symphony Orchestra, the National Repertory orchestra, the National Orchestral Institute, Kent/Blossom Music Festival, North Carolina School for the Arts European Tour, Grand Teton Music Festival College Seminar, and the Lakeside Summer Symphony.
Ms. Olsen has taught at Bellarmine University, the University of Akron Musical Arts Program, the Medina (OH) School District, Cleveland Public Schools, and the Educator’s Music Studio in Cleveland.
