Biography

Amanda R. Boyd (voice) received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance degree at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, graduating magna cum laude. She received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance degree from the University of Louisville, and her Doctorate of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. She has studied voice with Marjorie Halbert, Edith Davis Tidwell, and Shirley Close. Her opera coaches have included Emily Bullock, Kimcherie Lloyd, and Douglas Fisher.

Some of her operatic roles include Anne Trulove in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Adina in L’elisir d’amore,Violetta in La Traviata, Aurelia Havisham in Dominock Argento’s Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night, and First Lady in The Magic Flute. She has also performed as soprano soloist in Faurés Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’sGloria, Bach’s Mass in B minor, John Rutter’s Requiem,and Mozart’s Missa Brevis, K. 275.

Dr. Boyd has taught voice at the University of Louisville, StageWorks in Nashville, Florida State University, and is currently Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Indiana University Southeast.
