Faculty and Staff Biographies

Christopher is a tenure-track member of the library faculty at Indiana University Southeast. He is the Coordinator of Access Services (encompassing Circulation Services, Course Reserves, Document Delivery & Interlibrary Loan, and stacks maintenance). Christopher regularly teaches First-Year Seminars (FYS) and standalone information literacy classes for a variety of disciplines, and he provides weekly reference services along with his colleagues. His main research interest is investigating the history and development of libraries as cultural institutions.

Christopher also serves as the Campus Accreditation Project Manager for IU Southeast and has been responsible for building and maintaining the information infrastructure used in the ongoing regional accreditation efforts with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

Within his local community, Christopher volunteers with the Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion (a local Tibetan Buddhist Dharma center and temple) and is actively building its library’s infrastructure from the ground up. He is also the managing editor for Vietnamese and Global Buddhist Studies (VGBS), an up-and-coming open-source, scholarly journal hosted by IUScholarWorks. Christopher also works closely with the Floyd County Public Library (FCPL) in order to build a strong partnership between his university library and the community's public library.

Before moving to IU Southeast in 2016, Christopher was the Coordinator of Teen Services for the Charlestown-Clark County Public Library System in Southern Indiana and was responsible for collection development and maintenance; programming; and partnering with local schools to provide information literacy instruction to students in grades 7 – 12. Before that, he worked in the reference department for the same library system, where he also developed adult-oriented programs that were met with high degrees of success. Overall, Christopher has been connected to libraries in one way or another since he was 14.
