Biography

My favorite and most frequent questions are: Why and How. For me these questions represent a youthful curiosity about the world which carries over into my teaching. I strive to share and encourage curiosity. The answers to Why and How always lead to thinking and thinking always leads to more questions. This never-ending cycle is how I learned about the world and how I still arrive at my assessment of people, ideas, and events. This is what I want for my students: to always ask questions and think things through. Doing this, we sometimes create new knowledge.

I encourage critical thinking. The more students I encourage to think about and question our world, the more vibrant minds I help embrace a lifestyle of depth and decisive action. Critical thinking has become the currency in our evolving world market of ideas, so my goal is to send enriched students into that world.
