Biography
Carrie Fudickar is a PhD Candidate in United States History at Indiana University in Bloomington. Her dissertation, Livestock & Liberty: Afro-Creek Material Culture from 1820-1869, explores the possessions of free and enslaved Black residents of the Muscogee Creek Nation and how they utilized the raising of livestock to forge autonomy in a slave society. Carrie’s areas of interest include the history of slavery, Native American and indigenous histories of North America, colonial and early American history, and the American Civil War.
