Biography

Jeffrey Jamner received his Bachelor of Music degree from Mannes College of Music, his Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Louisville, and his Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance at the Manhattan School of Music. He received the Helen C. Cohn Award for Outstanding Graduate in the Doctoral Program.  He has studied with some of the most prominent music teachers in the country including Lee Luvisi, Paul Schenly, Jerome Lowenthal, Artur Balsam, and Jeannette Haien. Jeff has also studied and performed in numerous music festivals including The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Kneisel Hall in Blue Hill, Maine, Round Top Festival in Texas, and as faculty member of the East-West International Music Festival in Altenburg, Germany.

Jeff has taught at the University of Louisville School of Music and its preparatory department before pursuing his Doctoral studies in New York. He has also enjoyed a dual career as a concert pianist and as and arts education administrator. For over twenty years he has directed arts education and outreach programs at Kentucky Performing Arts (Kentucky Center for the Arts). He has performed with The Louisville Orchestra on several occasions, as well as with the West Virginia Symphony, Yonkers Philharmonic, and Manhattan Chamber Sinfonia.

His chamber music career is quite extensive, with critically acclaimed debuts at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City and the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.  Jeff has also appeared as a guest artist with The Kentucky Center Chamber Players at the Ogle Center on several occasions. He was founder and Artistic Director of Concorde: The Chamber Music Society of Westport in Connecticut. He has several recordings on Capstone and Centaur labels. Jeff has performed chamber music with such notable artists as Joanna Goldstein, Jinjoo Cho, Mihai Marica, Tai Murray, Todd Palmer, Mayuki Fukuhara, Sara Louise Callaway, Megumi Ohkubo, the NouLou Chamber Players, and his wife, flutist Margaret Jamner. Jeff has devoted his life to sharing music through both education and performing, and he is honored to join the staff and faculty at Indiana University Southeast.
