At this time, IU Southeast has not been notified of any student, faculty or staff contracting coronavirus COVID-19.
Face-to-face classroom teaching is suspended through the end of the spring semester. Following our extended spring break (March 14th to March 29th), students on all IU campuses will be taught via distance learning, through a number of modalities.
Students should return home, if possible, during the remainder of the spring semester. Course work will continue via virtual online teaching. We are investigating how to accommodate classroom activities that typically include laboratories or other in-person interactions, and specific guidance will follow.
University-affiliated travel is suspended. University-sponsored or affiliated international travel and domestic travel outside Indiana is suspended for any travel to begin by May 15. Personal international travel is strongly discouraged given the associated risks of possibly being unable to return for some period if the situation changes. Travelers returning from countries designated Level 2 or 3 by the CDC are subject to 14-day self-quarantine off campus upon return.
All IU residential housing, including the lodges at IU Southeast, will close on March 20. All students living in campus housing have been notified via email on procedures for move-out, including retrieving essential items. Anyone who needs information can access the housing website for dates and details. The instructions also include procedures for students who do not have a permanent residence or cannot return to their permanent residence at this time.
Classes are not canceled. Only face-to-face classroom teaching is temporarily suspended and moved to alternative teaching modalities including classes taught online. Instructors will be in touch with students regarding alternative offerings.
IU Southeast’s campus will remain open to faculty, staff and students.
For those students without adequate technology or internet services; our computer labs are available for student use, to complete their classes remotely. Additionally, internet service providers Comcast and Spectrum are offering free internet service for families of K-12 and college students in their service regions who previously do not have service with them. Please see the links above under external resources for details.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has full details on its website, including the importance of avoiding public transportation if you are feeling ill and staying away from others, even within your own household. IU Health Virtual Visit is available for free Coronavirus screening.
