The Assistant Banking Officer is responsible for working with Private Banking and their client base to facilitate their loan requests.  This position is also responsible for the handling of the entire process of any loan application through to the closing while following all policy and procedures in a manner that is consistent with the company's financial objective.


- Contact and meet with clients to collect the necessary information to process their loan request. May involve taking loan applications, opening new accounts, and retrieving information on file from Docuview.
- Prepare and review with clients any necessary documents at time of loan application, adhering to any Republic compliance standards.
- Assist the Banking Officers to facilitate all sales efforts and get the sale of all bank products, helping to follow up on account activation ensuring accounts are active and booked correctly on the system. Making sure clients are using Republic Bank as their primary checking according to the Promotional Closing Cost Agreement.
- Process retail loan requests in conjunction with our centralized processing/underwriting area, maintaining contact with our clients and the loan officer who initiated the loan.
- Schedule and coordinate retail closings with buyers, realtors and closing attorneys and attend real estate closings if necessary. Close consumer loans (HELOC, HEAL, credit cards, unsecured, auto) with our clients.
- Submit and process commercial loan requests in conjunction with our centralized credit/processing/underwriting. Maintain contact with our clients and the loan officer who initiated the loan.
- Schedule and coordinate commercial loan closings with buyers, realtors and closing attorneys and attend closings if necessary. Close commercial loans when necessary.
- Review settlement statements prior to closing and go over with client.
- Follow up to ensure client is making first and second payments prior to late fee being assessed.
- Have a thorough understanding of Republic's loan and deposit products and matrix guidelines.
- Handle client inquiries; help with problem solving, research, transfers, processing payments and customer service.
- Complete necessary servicing tasks (file maintenance, BOB maintenance, payoff requests etc).
- Work and renew all matured loans and also look for other opportunities to cross sell.
- Look for innovative ways to streamline the flow of work and better assist clients.
- Ensure compliance with established policies, business plans, industry guidelines and regulatory bodies.
- Assist Management with preparation of sales reports and local marketing.
- Assist in the daily banking center activities as needed.
- Prepare and submit Override Requests when needed to include all related compensating factors.
- Prepare and submit Fee Waivers according to LO/Management requests.
- Prepare Commitment Letters for all commercial loans approved over $500,000.
- Assist in training of all new Assistant Banking Officers to the bank.
Willingly performs other duties and projects as assigned.

- Travel between Republic Banking facilities is required.
- Occasional out-of-town travel is required.
- Stay abreast of new developments, best practices, and statutory and regulatory changes require a flexible work schedule that will include some evening and weekend work.

- High school diploma or equivalent required; College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Sales and customer service skills preferred.
- Minimum 2 years banking experience in processing retail and/or commercial loans required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and internet applications required.
