John Walczak resides in Louisville, KY. He graduated from Penn State University in 1978 with a B.S. in Animal Sciences. He began his zoo career 31 years ago as a keeper at Dreher Park Zoo in West Palm Beach, Fl. Walczak was brought to the Louisville Zoo in 1985 to design, build, and establish a collection for the Zoo's HerpAquarium. He has been instrumental in the growth of the Louisville Zoo for the past 25 years and has served as the Director since 2004.
In August 2010 he was presented the "Spirit of Yes" award at the Leadership Louisville Center's 2010 Mayor's Leadership Luncheon.
