IU Southeast began providing child care for students in 1978. Since then, the Center has been open to all students, faculty, staff, and the community. The Children's Center is operated by the University and is subsidized by Student Activity Fees. It provides a safe environment, trained staff, and structured learning activities for potty trained children ages 3 through 8.

The IU Southeast's Children's Center provides quality year-round childcare, preschool and pre-kindergarten for students, faculty, staff and community children. We strive to promote children's health, social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth and development by providing an active learning environment.

We believe children learn through play, concrete experience and peer/adult interactions. We encourage children to develop to their full potential by the use of individual, small and whole group activities.

The Children’s Center is arranged into learning centers to encourage children to make individual choices; creative arts, writing/art, literacy, blocks, discovery/water table, dramatic play, manipulatives, music and an outdoor play area.
