The Commencement ceremony is the culmination of several years of work on your part, and several months of planning on the part of university officials who stage and staff the annual event. In order for graduates to get the best out of the Ceremony, and for the university planners to be able to accommodate all who wish to participate, there are some actions graduate candidates should take, starting generally the semester before you believe will be graduating. The tasks below do not need to be done in the specific order presented—but they all need to get done.
Commencement is a voluntary ceremony to commemorate your graduation. Participating in the ceremony should not be construed as proof of graduation. Official proof of your graduation is your official transcript with your degree posted.
