The McMurray Society is named for IU Southeast founder and Jeffersonville businessman Fred McMurray. In the shadow of World War II, Mr. McMurray determined that quality higher education should be available to Southern Indiana residents close to home. He established the Indiana University Falls City Area Center in 1941, utilizing borrowed high-school classrooms for instruction. The special friends and donors of the McMurray Society honor this history and tradition with their lifetime cumulative gifts of $100,000 or more. This elite group of supporters has helped to transform IU Southeast from its humble beginnings to the vibrant, active campus of today. Through their loyalty and commitment, they join Fred McMurray in ensuring that world-class education stays and thrives in Southern Indiana for years to come.
