Tax Benefits of Charitable Giving

Federal Tax Deduction

For those who itemize deductions, you may generally deduct 100% of a charitable contribution made to a qualifying organization, up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. Learn more at

Indiana State Tax Credit

Gifts to an Indiana college or university may provide you with a tax credit. For individuals filing a single return, you may be entitled to take as a credit one-half of your gift, up to $100. For individuals filing jointly, you may be entitled to a tax credit equal to one-half of your gift, up to $200. Please note, tuition paid to a college or university does NOT qualify for this credit.
