Timber Lodge is on its way up.
Indiana University Southeast held a
groundbreaking ceremony on April
25 for its newest campus building –
Timber Lodge.
The new lodge will be the sixth on-
campus housing unit and will be located
near Orchard and Grove Lodges on
the south side of campus. It will house
about 90 students and will be styled in
the same rustic design as the current IU
Southeast lodges. It will feature one-,
two-, and four-bedroom apartments
with full kitchens, living rooms, and
semi-private bathrooms.
In addition, Timber Lodge has
been designed to receive a LEED
Silver (Leadership in Energy and
The 2012 Metroversity Writing
Competition received a host of good
entries this year, but it was the quality
work that Indiana University Southeast
students submitted that garnered
the attention and appreciation of the
judges.
Students from IU Southeast won
first and second place in all four
undergraduate categories, as well
as first place in the graduate-level
academic writing category.
Winners included:
• Louisville senior Thomas Olges;
second place in undergraduate fiction
Timber Lodge groundbreaking held
Environmental Design) certification
by the United States Green Building
Council (USGBC). This is the first LEED
project to be built on campus.
Construction will begin this summer
and is scheduled to be completed in
about one year, allowing the lodge to
open for the fall 2013 semester.
Metroversity honors IU Southeast students

first place in poetry
• New Albany graduate student David
D. Tighe; first place in graduate
academic writing
• Madison Cyr, a senior from Floyd
Knobs, Ind.; first place in nonfiction
(theme)
• Louisville senior Karyl Anne Geary;
second place in nonfiction (theme)
• New Albany senior Jonathan Carson;
first place in undergraduate fiction
and undergraduate academic writing
• Stacy D. Lintz, a senior from
Williams, Ind.; second place in
undergraduate academic writing and
second place in poetry
Additionally, two IU Southeast students
received awards for adult learners from
Metroversity.
• Dale Brown, a senior from
Oak Forest, Ill., received the
Outstanding Adult Learner Award for
undergraduates.
• Ishwarya N. Iyer, of Floyd County,
received the Outstanding Adult
Learner Award for graduate students
