former and current Grenadier athletes and
coaches.
The second-annual Champions Dinner will be held Saturday, Aug. 16,
2014, at Huber’s Orchard and Winery’s Plantation Hall. A reception

WHAT: 2014 IU Southeast Champions Dinner
WHEN: Aug. 16, 2014
WHERE: Huber’s Orchard and Winery
The dinner is designed to honor student-athletes and raise funding
for the IU Southeast athletic department. Awards will be given to the
Male and Female Athlete of the Year, and the JimMorris Champions
of Character Award will be given to a student-athlete who exemplifies
strong moral character, sportsmanship and the core values of IU
Southeast.
Because of generous support from local businesses and the
community, last year’s event raised over $30,000 for athletic
scholarships. More than 200 community members were in attendance
at last year’s sold out inaugural event. The Champions Dinner
Committee is aiming to exceed those numbers during this year’s event.
Individual tickets for the event are $50. Table sponsorships are
available for $1,000. Several additional sponsorship levels are also
available. These packages can be purchased through the athletic
department by calling 812-941-2432 or by emailing

CHAMPIONS DINNER
explain the true need that exists for
athletic scholarships,” Roby said.
“When business leaders could see in
black and white that IU Southeast was
lagging behind their competition in
athletic funding, several companies
stepped up to support our cause. We
want this year and the succeeding years
to continue to grow as we attempt to
start a legacy of giving to this athletic
program.
Roby has two major goals for the
Champions Club: build camaraderie
between student-athletes from all
sports and eras of IU Southeast
athletics and establish a legacy
for future athletes. “I believe the
Champions Club can become a true
support system by providing former
athletes with a way to reconnect to
their years on campus, but I also want
it to be seen by the current athletes as
a vibrant, fun organization that they
will be excited to join and support after
their playing careers are complete.”
