IU Southeast

Summer/Fall 2015 3

Dear Friends,

It is just over one year since I was welcomed into

the IU Southeast family as the university’s seventh

And what a year it has been! Over the past 12

months I have come to know so many gracious and

enthusiastic people who are committed to the success

of this university. Not just the students and faculty,

staff and administrators with whom I am privileged

to work each day. And not just the alumni and donors

who give so generously of their time, ideas and effort

to expand the visibility and renown of our college.

But also people beyond the beautiful confines of our

campus: the community members and leaders whose affection for and pride in IU Southeast is so

evident in their ongoing support.

To all of you, a hearty thanks for helping to make my first year an informative, productive and

successful one.

We have added programs and personnel, upgraded our technological infrastructure and

educational facilities, and strengthened our leadership boards. Commencement attendance

shattered school records, as did our fundraising effort at the Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner.

Further, we revitalized our connection with the local community through exciting events ranging

from Holocaust survivor Eva Kor to a new Pops Festival, and through active participation in

regional organizations such as Leadership Southern Indiana, Greater Louisville Inc. and 55K

As we continue to evolve, growing more efficient and effective, we look forward to creating new

opportunities for alumni to join in, be it by cheering for the Grenadiers at the Homecoming

basketball game, attending a concert at the Ogle Center or getting involved in the Alumni

Association. As this issue of the IU Southeast Magazine aptly demonstrates, there is plenty going

on, and plenty to look forward to.

Thank you again for the warm welcome and ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,

Ray Wallace

Chancellor, IU Southeast
