1980s

Susan Jane (Otte Koop) Waltz, B.S. ’89,

has

furthered her education with an MSN and DNP. She

currently teaches nursing classes online for Devry

University - Chamberlain College of Nursing Master’s in

Nursing program.

1990s

Kenneth L. Duke, Jr., B.A. ’91,

has been working in

federal law enforcement across the country since

graduation. He has worked in the U.S. Border Patrol,

INS, U.S. Customs, and ICE as a special agent,

supervisor and resident agent in charge in San Diego,

Houston, Tucson, and now in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Kevin Boehnlein, B.A. ’97,

recently met with

legislators in Washington, D.C., to seek retirement

savings incentives for individual investors. Boehnlein

was one of 53 financial advisors chosen to travel to

Washington, D.C., on behalf of individual investors. While

meeting with legislators, Boehnlein discussed how the

Grassroots Task Force supports saving and investing

incentives that encourage people to save for their

retirement and other long-term financial goals.

2000s

Suzie Hackmiller, M.S. ’01,

returns to the Oldham

County School district with 25 years of education

experience, including serving as an elementary

school principal in Illinois for the past eight years. In

addition to teaching in Oak Park, Illinois, and in Oldham

County, Kentucky, Hackmiller also worked in Jefferson

County Public Schools for 13 years, at Zachary Taylor

Elementary, JB Atkinson Elementary and Greenwood

Elementary schools.

Hillary Boles, B.S. ’06,

a high school English teacher at

Louisville Collegiate School, became a National Board

certified teacher, Teacher of the Year for Oldham County

Middle School and an NEA Master Teacher for the

Master Teacher Project.

2010s

Jessica Mullins, B.S. ’15,

started a new career as

Director of Customer Support at Neuronetrix, a

Louisville based Neuroscience engineering firm. She

credits her time and experiences at IU Southeast for

preparing her to take on this role.

Shelby Orange, B.S. ’15,

was hired right after

graduation by a company she interned with through the

Career Development Center.
