FLASHBACK

22

DO YOU REMEMBER THIS?

It’s a 1973 snapshot of an old IU Southeast tradition – the paddleboat regatta. Student organizations, fraternities,

sororities, faculty, staff and even local news media would race each other in paddle boats borrowed from Bloomington.

The races were originally held at Sam Peden Community Park on Grant Line Road and eventually were moved to the lake

behind the University Center on campus until the tradition ended in 1985.
