Dear Friends,

I am now completing my second full year since I was welcomed so graciously into the IU Southeast family as the

university’s seventh Chancellor.

Over the past 12 months, I have continued to get to know so many genial and enthusiastic people who are committed

to the success of this university. They include the students, faculty, staff, and administrators with whom I am privileged

to work alongside each day. They include the alumni and donors who continue to give so generously of their time, ideas

and effort to expand the visibility and renown of our university. They are also people beyond the confines of our beautiful

campus: the community members and leaders whose affection for, and pride in, IU Southeast is so evident in their

ongoing support.

To all of you, I offer a hearty thanks for helping to make my second year an informative, productive and successful one.

As you’ll read in this issue, IU Southeast has much to be proud of this year. We have added new programs in music, health

information administration, applied science, physics and public relations, upgraded our technological infrastructure and

educational facilities and strengthened our leadership boards. An increase in Commencement attendance required us

to hold the ceremony in Freedom Hall this year. Our fundraising efforts at the Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner again raised

record-breaking funds for our student scholars, and we further strengthened our connection with the local community

by bringing award-winning journalist and former CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley to speak on campus

as part of the Sanders Speaker Series. We continued active participation in regional organizations such as Leadership

Southern Indiana, Greater Louisville Inc. and One Southern Indiana.

As IU Southeast continues to evolve, growing more efficient and effective, we look forward to creating new opportunities

for alumni to renew their engagement with the university, be it by cheering for the Grenadiers at the Homecoming

basketball game, attending a concert at the Ogle Center or getting involved in the Alumni Association. As this issue of the

IU Southeast Magazine aptly demonstrates, there is plenty going on, and plenty to look forward to.

Thank you again for your ongoing support, during the 75th Anniversary of IU Southeast’s founding.

Yours sincerely,

Ray Wallace

Chancellor, IU Southeast
