Search Process for Faculty Positions

Contact IU Southeast Academic Affairs at (812) 941-2199 for assistance.

STEP ONE:

Request to Fill a New or Vacant

Position

Request to fill a vacant position is

initiated by the academic

unit/department and submitted to

Executive Vice Chancellor Academic

Affairs (EVCAA) for approval.

STEP TWO:

Form is signed by the EVCAA

and forwarded to Human

Resources. HR submits request to

Accounting Services for Budget

Committee approval.

STEP THREE:

Budget Committee makes a

decision and returns request to

the appropriate Vice

Chancellor.

STEP FOUR: Authorization to Recruit

PeopleAdmin

EVCAA approves Authorization to Recruit and Search

Committee or hiring manager is notified by Academic Affairs.

STEP FIVE:

Vacancy Notice eDoc

(Approval to Advertise)

The Vacancy Notice eDoc needs to

be completed and approved for all

academic searches

BEFORE

submitting the notice for

publication

. Note deadlines for

submission and allow adequate time

for routing and approvals. The form

should include detailed information

about the planned advertisement for

the search. A copy of the announce-

ment should be attached. It is the

responsibility of the search

committee to assign an Affirmative

Action Monitor and to review the

position description, ensuring the

position meets minimum

requirements.

This step is complete when the

EVCAA receives, reviews, and

approves the Vacancy Notice eDoc

from the Action List.

STEP SIX:

Interview Request eDoc

(Approval to Interview)

The Interview Request eDoc must

be accompanied with a list of all

candidate names and rejection

reasons. Both documents must be

completed and approved

BEFORE

scheduling interviews with

candidates for academic

positions

. Please allow adequate

time for approvals prior to

contacting candidates for

interviews.

This step is complete when the

EVCAA receives, reviews, and

approves the Interview Request

eDoc from the Action List.

STEP SEVEN:

Offer Request eDoc

(Approval to Extend Offer)

The Offer Request eDoc needs

to be completed and approved

for all academic searches

BEFORE making an offer to a

candidate.

This step is complete when

the

EVCAA receives, reviews, and

approves the Offer Request

eDoc from the Action List.
