The Grounds Team is responsible for maintaining the external portions of the campus. A team of 4 full-time employees maintain approximately 200 acres to provide the campus community with a beautiful and natural environment. Responsibilities include:
- Lawn and landscape maintenance and treatment
- Parking lot upkeep
- Sidewalks and walkway maintenance and care
- Tree and shrub care
- Snow removal
- Storm water management
- Outdoor structures and seating
- Pond maintenance
- Herbicide application
If you notice a problem, please submit a work request as soon as it is discovered. Emergency situations should be phoned in to Facility Operations at (812) 941-2330, but all other requests must be received in writing. For emergency situations after normal business hours contact University Police at (812) 941-2400.
Campus Beautification Day is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to work together to “Green” up the campus. Volunteers help beautify the campus by spreading mulch, planting flowers and trees around the campus. This event is held annually the third week of April with volunteers receiving a free shirt for their support and efforts.
