Studying abroad is a great opportunity to learn about a different country, about yourself, and even about the USA while earning credits toward graduation. Studies have shown that employers associate study abroad experiences with desirable skills such as flexibility, leadership, and multi-cultural competency.

Who can study abroad?

Students of any major can participate in the programs we offer and some majors even require study abroad. While some programs offer classes taught in a foreign language, many have no foreign language requirement. All credits for IU Southeast and IU programs count toward meeting graduation requirements. Financial aid can apply toward study abroad costs and scholarships are available.

Where can I go? And for how long?

Students have options to go on short study trips (2 - 4 weeks) with campus faculty. Faculty have recently taken students to Australia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ireland, Samoa, and Wales. Students can also participate in one of the hundreds of programs in about 50 countries available through the IU System, with options ranging from a few weeks to a whole semester or a full academic year.

Can I afford it?
