Study Abroad and Global Awareness

One size fits all? Not in study abroad! We have multiple options for you.

Studying abroad is a great opportunity to learn and grow personally and academically while earning credits toward graduation and gaining experience that will impress employers and graduate schools!

Have you dreamed of exploring the Amazon or gazing at the City of Light from the top of the Eiffel Tower?

Study abroad can help make that dream a reality, whether for a couple weeks, part of summer, a semester, or a full academic year.

Who can study abroad?

Students of any major can participate in the programs we offer and some majors even require study abroad. While some programs offer classes taught in a foreign language, many have no foreign language requirement. A cumulative GPA of approximately 2.5 or sometimes higher is required. All credits for IU Southeast and IU programs count toward meeting graduation requirements.

Can I afford it?

In most cases, any and all of your financial aid can be used to cover the costs of a study abroad program. Your financial aid eligibility may be increased to reflect the higher costs of attendance associated with study abroad programs. In addition to regular financial aid and scholarships, there are also scholarships especially designated for study abroad. Also check with your school or department to see if there are any special scholarships for students in your major.
